Pelvis Lift: Two Elite Swings, Two Different Patterns

See how Nelly Korda and Scottie Scheffler use different combinations of vertical and lateral pelvis motion to create effective downswing patterns.

What pelvis lift measures

Pelvis lift tracks the vertical movement of the center of the pelvis in inches from its address position. A negative value means the pelvis is lower than it was at address; a positive value means it is higher.

Different patterns can work

Sportsbox’s analysis uses Nelly Korda and Scottie Scheffler to show why biomechanics should explain a player rather than force every player into one model.

Korda lowers through the backswing and transition before rising quickly. Scheffler combines lift with pronounced lateral movement toward the target. Sportsbox reports that Scheffler lifts about 3.5 inches into impact.

The coaching takeaway

Start with the golfer’s ball flight, physical capabilities, and movement pattern. Then use the Tracker to see when the pelvis lowers and rises, and use the impact Indicator to quantify the change. The number is most useful when it supports a clear coaching question.
